Ari Lennox

Courtney Shanade Salter, born March 26, 1991, and professionally referred to by the name Ari Lennox, hails from Washington, D.C. and is the first female artist signing for J. Cole's Dreamville Records label. The label released her first EP, Pho, in October 2016 where she started to get recognition. The album that she released as her debut album Shea Butter Baby was released on May 7, 2019. Ari Lennox began uploading her music on the internet in 2012 as she released her debut mixtape, Five Finger Discount and debut EP Ariography in 2013. In 2014, she continued to share her music over the internet, including her self launched single Bound. In 2015, she was featured in Omen's Elephant Eyes album on Sweat released on the 21st of July. J. Cole was interested in her talent and wanted to use it together with Rihanna. It was announced on December 8 that she was signed to Dreamville Records. The singer appeared on the joint album Revenge of the Dreamers II featuring the track Backseat Cozz. She released Pho, her debut EP, on October 21 in 2016. Ari Lennox later appeared on J. Cole's track Change and also performed as the opening act on the 4 Your Eyez Only Tour in the year 2017. In 2018, she appeared on two tracks with her label-mates EarthGang for Nothing but the Best. And Bas on Icarus. Ari Lennox, on the 16th July, 2018, released her first single "Whipped Cream" from Shea Butter Baby. The music video to accompany it came out on the 5th. Then on the 9th of November the singer released two more singles called 40 Shades of Choke (and Grampa). Two singles more were released on the 11th of November Pedigree and No One. Shea Butter Baby was released in her debut single February 26, 2019 for the album Creed II. Shea Butter Baby was featured alongside Cole as part of The Creed II sound track on November 16. The track was accompanied by a music video on February 20 2019 and surpassed 3 million views via YouTube in the first week. In December of 2018 the singer was a part of the From East Atlanta With Love Tour featuring 6LACK.
